We had Back to School Night this past week…. I totally remember fitty years ago when my parents went to BTSN for ME when I was little! So weird for me to be that parent now. But I don’t feel so old since BTSN, considering that Denton and I were the youngest parents there, and with the most kids.
Have I mentioned yet how much I LOVE Leo’s teacher and now how much I LOVE Nuckols Farm Elementary? First, I love Mrs. Miller cuz she lets the kids be creative, she’s been teaching for 23 years but it hasn’t “gotten to her” to be around Kindergartners for that long. She handed us her curriculum outline and explained her teaching methods of allowing the children to find their niche and go at their own pace. She’s big on NOT having the kids all on the same level – let them progress as they can. Not only that, but she lays the SMACK DOWN in the right way, but is so kind about it all. aka – Leo’s been in time-out twice already… Denton and I have both had heart attacks about it and had Leo write an apology note to her teacher. And the reason being? Because she loves her friends at school and when she gives them hugs, she picks them up and twirls them around, almost killing both of them. :)
NFES is run by women – I’m not a Femme-Fanatic, but I think it telling that there are only 2 male members on the whole staff. Maybe I want to be a Vice Principal someday now… the P and VP drive a Lexus and Mustang with license plate “GIDYUP.” Heh. (Someday my Jeep Wrangler will have the license plate KIKDWN.)
So while other moms are crying and missing their kids during the day – I’m living it up going to the gym, spending more time with the boys, and thinking about how much fun Leo is having learning and being creative in a great environment. Cheers.
seriously, not one tear?? i’m already feeling sad that in a year it will be me at back to school night with my first…
it was only a couple years ago that she was at BTSN as a baby with me as the teacher.
congrats on time at the gym!!!
Hooray! I am so glad everybody is happy with Leo’s school. I know she will do so well. I hope someday I can be a grandparent volunteer and read a story to her class. Don’t fret about time out..her dad once got a comment on his report card that he talked too much…….can you even believe that about Denty? He must have gotton all talked out in grade school. Or he had a crush on somebody. But it all turned out ok and it’s ALL GOOD.
i am still busting my gut over that leo story!!!!! i wish rebecca was in her class so they could TORMENT the class!:) gina, i was SO HAPPY to talk to you tonight! i’m going to make it a habit & call you more. i miss you tons, but just know you are my hero every day of my life! i love you furnadette of america!:)
what a relief to know that your daughter is in good hands…i’m a little bit nervous about sending ella to school over here..don’t know to go public or private yet…but as my husband tells me..we’ll cross that bridge when we get there:)…also love the liscence plates..how cute is that..and i think you should get yours personalized ASAP!!
I loved reading your blog tonight. I have missed a few posts. Leo looks so big in her first day of school pictures. and by the way I have no sympathy for you with Denton gone. Jordan is always gone and we don’t get $$$ for it.
Knowing your child is in a healthy, productive place…priceless. I pray that is the case for Galla soon. Good for you guys! And I love that Leo spins her friends!
maybe i stalk your blog several times a day hoping that you have a new post on there…like a super funny story!:) have a great day…i’m all over michael scott thursday night!:) FRRT!
