a (sick) night at the movies

hortonhearsawho_poster.jpgThe kids and I were home all day yesterday with every nasty sickness there is!!!  I was cleaning up after them and not feeling so good myself.  I knew that today would be another day stuck at home, so I decided to take them to see “Horton Hears a Who!”

Last time I took them to the movies was about 3 years ago — Leo was 2 and Fischer a new baby. I can’t even remember what we went to see, but Leo screamed in PURE TERROR for the first 10 minutes, and Fischer was crying too so we left.  I didn’t even try to get my money back cuz I was so embarrassed and frazzled.

Today Fischer and Leo did really well, sat thru the whole movie.  Rocky was not so happy about it all but this time I was more prepared.  I let him play on the stairs for a while then tried to get him to fall asleep in the stroller while I pushed it back and forth.  That didn’t work so I wrapped him up in the blanket and tried to walk him to sleep in the aisle where you walk in to the theater.  He finally fell asleep in the stroller about 5 minutes before the movie ended.  It was worth it though cuz we got out of the house and the older kids had fun.  I can’t wait until Rocky is at the age that age I can take them all to the movies and we can ALL sit and watch.

Good for you for getting out..it was a nasty, rainy day. We were going to call you from church yesterday when we didn’t see you…. but didn’t know your number without my cell phone….but then we saw Denton and he told us you were all sick. We will watch the kids soon when everyone feels better…Denton says it is really contagious. Maybe by the end of the week. If the weather is nice, we want to take them on a picnic to the park.

Did you check out my new blog? suz

Yes, you rock it! I’ve gone so far as to nurse my babies at the theater. Hey it’s dark, whatever. Also, we went down to the science museum on Saturday and played in the polymer fun house (I love saying that)–I missed you.

Remember Ice Age 2? Even I was scared! Love you all and hope everybody gets better all at once so no one gets sick again, especially the nurse.

You are brave to take the 3 by yourself! How was the movie (or at least what you saw when you weren’t walking Rocky)?

That’s awesome…you’re a good mama. I can’t wait to take Max to his first movie…Sorry that baby wouldn’t fall asleep for you. Maybe this summer we’ll try it.

Wow, I am so glad you guys are up to leaving the house we are almost there. How were the bits and pieces of the movie you saw? I’ve given up on movies till they are at least.. They can pay for themselves, How’s that for a stick in the mud. The last time I took them all I was doing the same with Claire and the time before that all Sam wanted to do was look at the cool runner lights on the floor. Nine Dollars to tell me for an hour and a half how cool they were and how many colors they used.Fascinating!

You are so much braver than me, but I want you to know that you are my hero, because you have such a great balance of fun, spiritual, serious, party, furna…everything! Now I want to take my kids to see this movie! Maybe this weekend or next.:)

i took the boys to that movie too and mayes was on the stairs most of the time! we went to a “movie for mom’s”–do you have those? they rock because kids are free, mom’s pay matinee, and everyone is nursing or letting kids climb the stairs, etc. its the best way to take kids to the theater!
