that was a fabby article. must i ask who the 21 year old in our family is?
i was expecting the reporter to say something like, “and when she laughed her fro was a shakin’ like a giant oak blowing in the wind.”
one can only dream…
congrats though!
and can i just say that denton is the most talented person i’ve ever met!
I have to say I’m very proud of Marissa for taking the initiative to get this in the paper. She should be in public relations (except we might have to put her on a five second delay – like they do for awards shows). I think it’s been great how her family has pulled together to get the Valentine Aardvark tradition out there and to honor their father. I’m glad I was able to be involved in it (even if there were a few times I wanted to curse that website into oblivion).
I hope a lot of you will be able to make the Valentine Aardvark one of your family traditions.
thanks, natalie.
and can i just say that i love that your email address is natalie bm!
ok, since we’re being cheesy (and leaving comments on our OWN blog – is that lame?) I have to say that Denton is the (mad) man behind the madness of the website. He’s seriously worked SO hard to create the Valentine Aardvark website (as well as this blog) and he did it all to help us Mitchell’s honor Dad. So thanks babe — 224 in a big way.
Denton & Marissa,
Great work on getting the word out about the Valentine Aardvark.
You BOTH are super creative and talented and I am looking forward to hearing all about the great business you guys are going to start when you guys appear on Oprah next year this time.
My only request is that it not be a children’s picture book explaining how babies are born!
It’s so fun reading those articles, Gina, and can Natalie please be a mini YOU?:) I love it!:) So does the aardvark have a fro? I agree, Denton, Gina is a great PR person, but the 5 second delay would probably be appropriate…only cause we’re so d*** funny!:) Love you Gina!
By the way, congrats on getting this up and going…that is so awesome!
The concensus here in Richland is that your article was fabulous. It really made my day to see that someone, “empathetic” wrote a response to the article saying,
“I love this story. It was so refreshing to read about something that pulls families together and not apart. We should all read this and try to incorporate more of these types of traditions and values into the lives of our own families.” It is our fondest hope that just this kind of thing will happen in many families across America, no, across the world!
Doesn’t anyone sleep anymore? Empathetic logged on at 3:02 a.m., and your sleepy college sister at 1 a.m.
Thank-you, Denton and Marissa for all you work. Love you all…
i do not remember putting that last bit about denton. that must have been denton using his computer hacking skills and posing as me.
schmutzig!

Ok..I want to know what a big 224 is? I can only imagine.
Great job on the website ( maybe even some of my genes were at work) Everyone that has seen it thinks it is so cute and keep telling me how proud I must be…..I say I am….I worked so hard raising that son of mine :) Hah..I can take no credit. But I am very proud of you all and I think it is a very sweet way for Marissa’s family to honor their dad and the fun memories of him. And Mimi is right about things that pull families together. She has been such a good example to all of us on how to overcome trials with grace and hope. I do agree with Natalie…Denton is one of the most talented people I know too. And I love how Marissa knows how to make things happen…a girl after my own heart. I love the drawing of the Ardvark and the cute T-shirts . Now Greg and I are famous too….people know these are our kids….even the lady at the library who we don’t know.I am always going to carry a pen in my purse when I go to Walmart in case someone wants my autograph.
