Dear Friends and Family,
As most of you know, my Dad passed away a little more than a year ago. He had great enthusiasm for many things, including family traditions. One tradition my father invented (being that avid Biologist that he was) which our family has been celebrating for more than 30 years is the Valentine Aardvark.
When I was little, on Valentine’s Eve my brothers and sisters and I would make and decorate Aardvark Pouches and set them out that night. While we were sleeping, the Valentine Aardvark would come in the night and fill our pouches with little treats and presents. I never understood why my friends at school didn’t get a visit from the Valentine Aardvark.
My extended family has been busy creating a website to share this tradition and help us remember Dad – consider it our free therapy. It has brought back so many great memories of Dad and I love that I have carried on this tradition with my children. You can visit the site at www.valentineaardvark.com. I hope that by sharing this with you, you and your family will consider adopting it as a tradition of your own. Let us know what you think and feel free to spread the word about the Valentine Aardvark.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
What a neat tradition. Love your blog! I can’t believe how big all your kids are. Time sure does fly. Hope you are doing well!
Such a GREAT Valentine adventure! I love theidea and t-shirts! Your kids are so dang cute! We miss you guys a lot! loves to you from our family … and Happy B-day :0
Ha Ha! I am so glad you have this finally! I am also the worst at keeping up although I seriously still think about you most every day. In fact just this morning I called Tara for your phone number but she was away from home. Anyway, love the blog. By the way, there is actually a site that will give your blog a movie rating (i.e. PG, PG-13, etc.). One of my friends did it. After you get a couple posts out you should get it rated! Also, just for info’s sake, you have Leo’s height listed as 42 lbs. (Seriously Denton, I expect a bit more from you.) I will be stalking you every day but I still just need to talk to you. I’ll track down your number somewhere or if you get a chance email it to me. Thanks a million and welcome to blogville. P.S. I think we will start the Valentine Ardvark this year (who made the cool graphic?)!
sorry, sorry. i fixed it. leo’s height is now listed at 43 lbs.
FRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT! Well it’s about time, Gina Cochina! I’m SO HAPPY about your blog that now I can check on you every fitty seconds to see what in the H you are up to! Wahooo! And don’t worry, I’m going to devote a post JUST TO YOU since I’m so happy that you are no longer a blog virgin! YESTH! I LOVE the valentine aardvark idea, and I think I’m going to try to implement, so I’m going to need some ideas on little presents you got when you were younger. Hmmm…James is gonna love this one…not!:) Love you furna!
Valentine Aardvark! That is perfect- so much more creative than a fairy or a bunny! I can’t imagine how you made the graphic. This just makes me want to talk to you in person…so maybe I’ll call you for the two minutes our kids might be quiet. Troy just brought back your book from VA so that I can dig in. Thanks again for making it custom just for me!!
Erin
Riss,
What up girl? Your website is the bomb. It’s one of those, WDITOT moments.
I can’t wait for the VA to come to my house. Will he still come to my house if I am 35 and living with my Mom? Please advise.
BTW, the shirts are really cool too. I bet you look fly in yours.
Seacrest out ….
Chico – who are you and what have you done w/my brother? don’t mess w/me… I use to date (and be) a gangster.
